Retail Design Consultants, Leeds

What is now the major Northern city of Leeds dates back to the 5th century. In the 17th and 18th century, Leeds became a prime producer of wool. During the industrial revolution, Leeds became the main UK industrial city trading in wool and flax. This led to Leeds also becoming a centre for engineering, with iron foundries and printing companies contributing significantly to trade in Leeds.

Onto the present day, Leeds has been dubbed the ‘Knightsbridge of the North’, due to its proliferation of exclusive shops and boutiques. Leeds retailers also contributed to Leeds recently being voted the most female friendly city in the UK.

With its internationally acclaimed university, Leeds has become an important city of higher education. With the attendant a high student population, the students have influenced the night life and trends in retail centre development; retail specialists recognising the need to offer young people what they expect from a ‘vibrant, happening city’.
